
Volunteer Opportunity: Botanic Garden Tour Guide Trainees
Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 – The Lakes Park Enrichment Foundation seeks volunteer Botanic Garden Tour Guide Trainees. Learn to lead tours once a month during tourist season (October through April) and during special events in Lakes Regional Park, Fort Myers Florida.
DESCRIPTION
- We are looking for more than one candidate; ideally, a team of three could alternate leading the tour, provide backup for one another, and/or assist one another in leading larger tours.

Duties:
- Lead garden strolling tours in Botanic Garden; Fragrance, Succulent, Water, Community, Children’s, and Tropical Fruit gardens. Tours last about an hour.
Qualifications:
- Registered Lee County Volunteer – http://www.leegov.com/parks/volunteers
- Advanced knowledge of plants – ideal for Master Gardener or Master Naturalist
- Be able to identify the flowers found on the Lake Park “What’s in Bloom” poster.
Tour Guide Training:
- Orientation provided by foundation botanist.
Tour Commitment Expected:
- Second Saturday morning of each month and special event days.
- Possible expansion of opportunity if there is enough volunteer interest (for example, more than just once a month).
Equipment needed:
- Foundation brochures, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to walk/stand for up to 90 minutes
Minimum age: 18
