Kid Stuff – Summer in Lakes Park, July 2020

Published on July 16, 2020 by Erin White

GONE FISHIN’

Limited registration for the Lee County summer camps opened on June 1st. The session runs from July 1st and concludes July 31st with CDC guidelines in place. The Foundation’s original plan was to raise funds (successful!) to send the camp kids on several field trips this year. However, social distancing requirements present a unique challenge. Parks & Rec staff at Lakes Park met the challenge with creativity. Instead of asking for a bus and tickets to an attraction, they asked for fishing gear!  We were delighted to accommodate this request, which resulted in some great fun, right there in the park.

CONCERT IN THE PARK

A park patron sent us this shot of a family concert at the park. We are so pleased that the musical instruments the Foundation purchased for the Children’s Garden are such a big hit!

MULCH ADO ABOUT PLAYING

Parks and Rec added a new layer of mulch to the playground by the Train Museum. Everything looks neat and pretty!
