Fort Myers, FL, Oct. 29, 2019 – The Lakes Park Enrichment Foundation has announced the People’s Choice winners of the tenth annual Scarecrows in the Park competition. Visitors to the Lakes Park Fall Festival cast votes for their favorite scarecrow displays from Oct. 11 through Oct. 26.
The winners of the 2019 Scarecrows in the Park People’s Choice competition are:

More than 14,000 votes were cast in this year’s People’s Choice competition, compared to last year’s 11,000 votes, despite a tornado warning and severe weather watch during the second weekend of the Fall Festival. Increased interest in volunteering at “the polls” is credited with the increase in votes. Volunteer students from the Lee County Schools, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida SouthWestern and other schools signed up in record numbers to participate, welcoming visitors and encouraging them to vote for their favorite scarecrow.
The Lakes Park Fall Festival brings the community together each year to create a fun, family-oriented, Halloween-themed event at Lakes Regional Park. This includes Lee County Parks & Recreation, park vendors Wheel Fun and the Railroad Museum of Southwest Florida, local schools, nonprofits, youth organizations, various businesses and philanthropic organizations such as the Foundation and the Sunrise Rotary.
“Our Rotary Clubs are pleased to have been in partnership with Lakes Park for the Fall Festival event for a decade,” said David Gallantine, past president of the Sunrise Rotary Club. “Each year we get to welcome new visitors to the Park and many will stop on their way out commenting on how well the park is maintained, and expressing amazement on the variety of options for all ages. Lakes Park is a ‘Hidden Gem’ for Fort Myers.”
