As another “season” draws to a close, the Foundation reflects on the humble beginnings of a very popular activity for the pre-school crowd and their parents. StoryTime in the Garden happens once a month from October through April. The program combines outdoor nature-based activities, arts and crafts, and reading-readiness in an effort to engage, entertain, and educate toddlers.

The Zaniacs are master story-tellers, and frequently enthrall their audiences. The kids, too ;-)

Starting with just a few attendees in the Children’s Garden, StoryTime has blossomed. A single Facebook post by Local Roots, operators of the Lakes Park Farmer’s Market, drew greater numbers of attendees. Children’s Garden volunteers devote time and fun to the program. The core team includes Wendi Carroll (Chair of the Children’s Garden), Sue Moore, Peggy Bruhn, and “The Zaniacs” – Scott and Jenn Smith, owners of Happy Dolphin Press here in Fort Myers. Their dedication and commitment has produced a wonderful program with a bright future.

We’ll see you back in the Children’s Garden in October!
