Final harvest and plant sale at Lakes Park, April 24th 2018

LAKES PARK COMMUNITY GARDEN Rock Star, Bill Johnson, reports:

“We made our tenth and final donation for the 2018 growing season today 4-24-2018. We donated 82 lbs. today giving us a total of 1100 lbs. for the season. This is pretty amazing and everyone involved should be very proud of this accomplishment.

I would like to thank the following garden bed numbers for their kind donations (1, 13, 17, 38, 39, 42, 44, 46, 48, 57, 59, 61, 64, 65, 66 & 69).

I would like to thank the following for helping with harvest & delivery of the produce (Friends Dorothea, Jim, my wife Jo, my daughter Deanna & Linda Sapp).”

The harvest was donated to the Community Cooperative (click for info) soup kitchen in Fort Myers.

Over the summer, we will be working on re-vamping the Community Garden sign-up process.  If you want to be on the mailing list, just click here to email us at INFO@LAKESPARK.ORG

THE LAKES PARK FRAGRANCE GARDEN held their final plant sale of the season on April 24th.  Volunteers have learned to propagate some of the plants that grow in our gardens. Our propagation shed was donated by Lowe’s, and the Foundation purchased new propagation tables this season. Plant sales help us to raise funds to spearhead a variety of projects in and around the garden. We will resume plant sales in the Fall, when the Farmer’s Market opens again. Thanks to everyone who volunteered this season and contributed toward the success of our plant sales!

Lee County Parks & Rec Volunteers keep the park in tip-top shape. The Fragrance Garden has a team that propagates plants and sells them to the public one Wednesday morning per month during "season".
