Community Garden Food Harvest for March 20th, 2018

The Lakes Park Community Garden keeps knocking it out of the park! Bill Johnson reports on the most recent harvest, which was donated to the Community Cooperative:

“We made our eighth Community Cooperative donation on Tuesday (3/20/18). We had another great donation of can goods, dried foods and produce for a total of 144 lbs. and that gives us a grand total of 890 lbs. for the 2018 growing season. WOW

Thanks to the following bed numbers for their kind donations (13, 17, 20, 23, 33, 38, 39, 40, 48, 50, 55, 57, 59, 61, & 69).

Special thanks to friends Dorothea, Jim, Belinda & Norm for giving up their time to help me harvest on Tuesday. Thanks to my wife Jo for helping with weighing and delivering the donations. Get a load of the carrots donated by Dave.”

According to the Community Cooperative website, “In Lee County, 1 in 6 residents are in need of food assistance.” Our Community Garden volunteers solicit food donations during the growing season. These donations are given to the Community Cooperative for distribution.
