Community Garden Food Harvest for April 3rd, 2018
From Bill Johnson, Community Garden volunteer extraordinnaire:
“HIP HIP HOORAY!
We made our ninth Community Cooperative donation today 4/03/2018. We had a wonderful donation of can goods, dried foods and produce totaling 128 lbs. We surpassed the 1000 lb. mark for a grand total of 1018 lbs. for the 2018 growing season. (AMAZING)
We may have a final donation on 4/24/18 depending on the amount of produce available at that time.
I would like to thank the following bed numbers for their kind donations (1, 3, 13, 17, 18, 20, 38, 39, 40,42, 44, 48, 50, 55, 57, 59, 61, 65, 69, & 76).
Special thanks to Dorothea & Jim for helping with harvest & also Doc & Dave Bowman.”
Part of the Community Cooperative‘s mission is to eliminate hunger in Lee County. According to the Community Cooperative website, “We provided over a million lbs of food to our neighbors in need in 2017. Learn more about our Feeding Programs & Food Assistance programs.” The Lakes Park Community Garden bed renters and volunteers are proud to have contributed 1,000 of those million pounds to the cause. Well done, all of you!
