The Lakes Park Enrichment Foundation’s Children’s Garden committee has partnered with “The Zanics” of Happy Dolphin Press to bring quality education and entertainment to StoryTime and beyond.

“The Zaniacs” are an imaginative invention of Happy Dolphin Press, an independent children’s book publisher headquartered at P.J. Boox here in Fort Myers. The Zaniacs appeared at Lakes Park during our Garden Day event in February, and were present for our Brick by Brick Picnic in March. Now, they’re joining in on the fun at StoryTime.

StoryTime in the Garden is a pre-school program presented on the third Wednesday of each month during “season” (October through April) in the Children’s Garden at Lakes Park. The program encourages both reading-readiness and environmental awareness.  Stories are read and paired with crafts or toddler-perfect activities such as hopping like a frog or hunting for caterpillars.

In addition to helping the Foundation to present creative programming in the Children’s Garden, Happy Dolphin Press has contributed a new book for our StoryWalk – Fred the Frog, by independent author and artist Joyce Lake of Pine Island. Children can discover Fred’s story while strolling the paths that meander through the Children’s Garden.

Our next StoryTime in the Garden will happen on Wednesday April 18th at 10:00 AM in the Children’s Garden at Lakes Park. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
