Children’s Learning Garden at Lakes Park Becomes a Reality

Plans for Susan Moore’s vision of a Children’s Learning Garden have come a long way since the first gala fundraiser in 2014. Sue’s dream has been realized thanks to the Fort Myers businesses and residents who supported the efforts of the Foundation volunteers.  The 2016 fundraising gala, held at Lakes Park at the wedding gazebo area near the Children’s Garden, was a great success. The fun began at 4:30 and included entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvre, live and silent auctions and a raffle featuring original art work by many area artists.

Guests strolled through the charming botanic gardens and newly installed pathways in the Children’s Garden. Guests also enjoyed the a 20 minute guided riding tour.throughout the park/

All proceeds from the gala go towards the expenses of building the four garden rooms; The Alphabet Herb Garden, Pollination Station, The Stummpery (story time garden), and Light Energy from the Sun.  The Foundation is pleased to announce that Marcia & Ron York, owners of Denny’s restaurants in Fort Myers and Cape Coral have become generous supporters of The Children’s Garden rooms.  Lowes Garden Center of Fort Myers and R.S. Walsh Landscaping of Fort Myers and Sanibel provided the herb plants.

LPEF thanks all attendees for their generosity!
