Birthday Girl donates tree to Lakes Park’s Fragrance Garden
LPEF Board member and Fragrance Garden leader Kathy Busick writes:
“Sophia and her best friend Rylin are home-schooled. She enjoys doing Random Acts of Kindness and for her birthday, she wanted to donate and plant a tree in the Fragrance Garden. What neat young ladies with fantastic mothers (Jessi Egizi and Tasha Milmont). I was so privileged to spend a part of yesterday morning (March 26th) with them.
They chose a Florida-friendly Starburst. Even though we have other Starburst in the park, you can see how thrilled they were to be planting another one.”
This beautiful random act of kindness is much appreciated. As many readers are aware, 2017’s Hurricane Irma destroyed 300+ trees in Lakes Regional Park. When they fell in the Fragrance Garden, many shrubs and plants were crushed. Thanks to the efforts of both Lee County Parks & Rec and the Fragrance Garden volunteers, recovery has made much progress, but may take years to complete.
We also love the opportunity to help educate young people about the natural world. If you are raising a budding naturalist or gardener, we want to hear from you!
